Located in Research Triangle Park (one of largest research parks in US) provides extensive internship opportunities with 300+ companies. 70%+ of business students complete internships.

Lower-level courses often 50-300+ students in lecture halls. Upper-level major courses 20-40 students. Business school classes average 25-35 students in junior/senior years. Freshman classes tend to be large lectures.

Mix of lecture-based (especially lower division) and applied learning. Business school emphasizes experiential learning, case studies, and group projects. STEM focus means hands-on lab work is common, but liberal arts tend toward traditional lecture format.

Undergraduate Tutorial Center, Academic Success Center, Counseling Center available. However, large university environment means students must be proactive in seeking help. Not known for hand-holding approach. Office hours available but in large classes, personal attention can be limited.

Overall placement rate approximately 85-90% within 6 months of graduation. Business school reports 94% placement rate. Strong regional connections in NC and Southeast.

• No specific pre-law major, but political science and philosophy programs support pre-law students. NCSU has pre-law advising through Career Development Center.
• Poole College of Management ranked #48 for undergraduate business programs (U.S. News 2024). Marketing program particularly strong within business school.
• Strong psychology program within College of Humanities and Social Sciences, though not individually ranked in top tiers nationally.
• NCSU is primarily known as engineering/STEM powerhouse (#28 engineering nationally), less renowned for liberal arts/social sciences
• Exercise science program available as pre-PT pathway. Kinesiology department offers strong foundation. No guarantee of admission to PT school, but provides necessary prerequisites.

Moderate presence: approximately 12-15% of students involved in Greek life. 30+ fraternities and sororities. Present but doesn't dominate social scene. Non-Greek students have plenty of social opportunities. Greek Court on campus houses many organizations.

Active and diverse. 700+ student organizations. Talley Student Union is social hub. Bars and restaurants on Hillsborough Street popular. Downtown Raleigh (15 minutes) offers additional nightlife. Mix of party culture and academic focus. More balanced than pure party schools but definitely has active social scene.

EXCELLENT - One of strongest in ACC. Football and basketball draw massive crowds. Carter-Finley Stadium (57,583 capacity) regularly fills for football. PNC Arena hosts basketball. Traditions include Wolfpack Walk, Red & White Week, brick ceremony. Students are passionate Wolfpack fans. Rivalry with UNC-Chapel Hill is intense.

Hillsborough Street (adjacent to campus) active with bars, restaurants, entertainment. Greek life, sporting events, concerts keep campus vibrant. Some students go home but majority stay.

Moderate to slightly conservative-leaning compared to UNC-Chapel Hill. Engineering/STEM focus creates more politically diverse environment. North Carolina as a whole is purple state. Campus has both conservative and liberal organizations. Generally pragmatic, less activist culture than liberal arts colleges.

Urban campus in Raleigh (state capital, population 470,000+). Campus itself is 2,110 acres with mix of historic and modern buildings. Located in heart of Research Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill metro area of 2+ million). Walkable campus with city amenities immediately accessible.

Raleigh averages 213 sunny days per year (US average is 205). Four distinct seasons. Mild winters (average low 35°F in January). Warm, humid summers. Beautiful spring and fall. Average annual temperature 60°F. Excellent climate for outdoor activities year-round.

Excellent access to nature. Lake Raleigh and Lake Johnson on/near campus for walking, running. William B. Umstead State Park (5 miles away) offers 5,599 acres of hiking, mountain biking, trails. Schenck Forest (357 acres) adjacent to campus. 2.5 hours to mountains (Blue Ridge, Appalachian Trail). 2 hours to beaches (Outer Banks, Wilmington). Outstanding outdoor recreation access.

Wolfline bus system (free for students) extensive on campus and to nearby areas. GoRaleigh public bus system connects to downtown. Walkable campus. Most students don't need cars but many have them. Uber/Lyft readily available. Bike-friendly campus with greenways.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) - 20 minutes/15 miles from campus. Major airport with direct flights nationwide.

Raleigh is vibrant, growing city. Research Triangle Park provides tech/corporate hub. Excellent restaurant scene, craft breweries, museums, music venues. Downtown Raleigh revitalized with entertainment districts. Young professional population. Safe, clean city. Southern hospitality culture. Hillsborough Street adjacent to campus is student-oriented commercial district.

NC State has the Wolfpack Dance Team - competes at UDA College Nationals. Team performs at football and basketball games. Tryouts held annually (typically April/May). Walk-on opportunities available - no dance scholarship program, so all positions are walk-on. Team is competitive and travels to nationals. Practices multiple times weekly. Mix of pom, jazz, and hip-hop styles.

Excellent facilities. Carmichael Gymnasium complex includes multiple gyms, pools, indoor track, climbing wall, fitness centers. Intramural sports very popular - 30+ sports offered including flag football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, etc. Club sports available (40+ clubs). Outdoor Adventures program offers trips, equipment rental. Wellness and Recreation Center state-of-the-art. Very active recreational culture.

Above average for large state university. Multiple dining halls: Fountain (main), Clark, Case, Talley. Food court options in Talley Student Union. On-campus Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Subway, Panda Express. Meal plan required for freshman. Students rate dining 3.5-4/5 generally. Hillsborough Street has extensive off-campus dining. Recent dining hall renovations improved quality.

Attractive campus with mix of red brick historic buildings and modern facilities. Court of Carolinas is scenic central quad. Memorial Belltower is iconic landmark. Mature trees throughout campus. Lake Raleigh provides natural beauty. Campus well-maintained. Not as traditionally beautiful as UNC-Chapel Hill but solid aesthetics. Ongoing construction/renovation projects. More functional than picturesque, but pleasant environment.

Mixed quality. Freshman housing mandatory (unless living with family locally). Older dorms (Sullivan, Turlington) are basic, no AC in some. Newer dorms (Wolf Village, Wolf Ridge Apartments) much nicer with AC, suite-style. Many students move off-campus sophomore year due to limited on-campus space and better off-campus options. On-campus housing not guaranteed all four years. University Towers popular upperclassman option.
